Plot:
he story opens with the death of Ram (Dhanush). His wife Janani (Shruti Haasan) realizes that her husband did not die naturally, as she finds his room with blood shots. She is unable to forget his death; therefore she re-calls their memories from when they first met and the story starts in a flashback when Ram and Janani were 12th grade students.
Ram is a rich happy-go-lucky. He sees Janani in college and has a straight crush on her. He begins to follow her around with his friends Kumaran and Senthil.
When Janani also begins to love him back, she is stopped by her poor family. When Janani's mother explains that they are moving to America, Janani burns her passport so she can stay with Ram. She is then removed from the family by her mother and she lands up at Ram's door. The two get married with Ram's fathers help. The two live a great life. The story then goes back into reality and Janani finds a suicide letter in Ram's coat, and after reading it, she inquires Senthil about his death. Senthil tells her the truth about Ram, as he had two sides in his mind. After Janani told him she is leaving for America, that night his best friend Kumaran also shifted from the town. Ram couldn't take all this pain and went to Senthil, where Senthil had realized that Ram was facing bipolar disorder.
This clearly means that if something positive happened, Ram would jump in joy, but if a tiny negative thing happened, he wouldn't be able to control his anger rage. Senthil explains that once when he told Ram about his disease, Ram smashed a glass bottle on his head. Ram escapes from the house and walking by the road, and suddenly he hits his head on a vehicle. After that accident, Senthil couldn't see any strange things about him. Ram agrees with Senthil to go see a doctor. He rejects medications thinking that, Janani would know about the situation.
He loves her so much, and he don't want too see tears from her eyes. As a request of Ram, Senthil stays at Ram and Janani's house for few weeks, in case the situation becomes dangerous and if Ram tried to hurt Janani. Once, Ram tried to kill Janani during her sleep but was luckily stopped by Senthil.While the story goes forward, once at the night club Ram fights with a guy, who tried blocking Janani's way. He takes Janani to car parking and she goes home, then a gang comes up and start beating Ram and wounded Senthil because of the fight with their friend. While the fight, Ram hits his head again at a car's hood and his medical situation becomes more dangerous and he gets the anger back. Ram beats them all and, Senthil quickly picks up an injection given by the docter which said to use in case of emergency, and injects it.
Once, while Ram and Senthil in the car, Ram hits his friend, Senthil's head on the wheel and he become unconscious. Ram says his last words to his friend, Senthil "Sorry dude, you have done so much for me" and leaves the car in order to and go see Janani himself.
She remembers all the beautiful memories in their young age, and the ending takes onto the final scene of Ram's life, as he goes to Janani's bedroom and watch her sleeping. He tries to control his emotions and kiss her for the last time and suddenly young girl appears saying "Either kill her or you die". He immediately get away from her bed and goes to his office room and writes a suicide note, he starts to see more and more people in front of him crying and laughing, and to end it all and avoid from hurting his beloved Janani, he picks up a fruit knife, and kills himself, saying his final words "I love you Janani" and leaving Janani behind, still loving her.
